Guidelines for Anticoagulant Use in Plasma Sample Preparation for ELISA
Publish:2025-06-18 Source:ReedBiotech Views:7

1. Which Anticoagulants Can Be Used When Preparing Plasma Samples for ELISA?

For plasma preparation, EDTA salt anticoagulants are recommended (e.g., EDTA2Na, concentration: 1.5–2.2 mg/mL blood). Pre-filled collection tubes typically contain 4.5 mL blood + 7.2 mg EDTA2Na (equivalent to 1.6 mg/mL, suitable for most assays). Other anticoagulants like heparin salts or citrate salts (commonly sodium or potassium salts) may also be used. Note: If additional biochemical/enzymatic assays are required, pre-validate anticoagulant compatibility to avoid interference.

2. How to Prepare Plasma Samples?

  • Collect samples using anticoagulant-coated tubes.
  • Centrifuge at 2–8°C, 1,000 × g for 15 minutes within 30 minutes of collection.
  • Use the supernatant (plasma) for subsequent detection.
